dear dad,  thank you for how many hours you spent on your knees on my behalf.  thank you for loving every little thing about me & for loving me so well.  thank you for doing everything to take care of me… from talking to doctors & finding the right food pump to walks around Wilson park & our late night time.  only we know how that time together night after night in those late hours was so special.  thanks for celebrating each moment I was with you.  I guess most folks would look at our time together as short, but we both know how full it was.  thanks for the strength it took to speak of me at my celebration after I had already gone to be with Jesus.  thanks for figuring out with mom how to be my parents still without me there.  thanks for the courage it takes now to live life, to live for Christ & to keep telling others of my story with your words & your writing & 99 balloons…because, after all it is a beautiful story of real life, real love, and our very real God.  love, eliot

dear dad,  thank you for playing with me.  thank you for making my eyes light up when you come home.  thank you for tickling me, for throwing me up in the air, for learning all about taking care of me around the clock when mom was on bedrest…that was such great time together.  thank you for being so patient with me as I discover more & more things about the world around me.  thanks for talking to me, reading to me & sitting on the floor in the kitchen to play pretend cooking with me.  thank you for loving me enough to not give me all that i want, for loving me enough to give me all that I could ever need & for loving me so well.  thanks for working so hard to provide for me and thanks for not compromising all your talents & gifts & creativity to do so…maybe one day, i will have the courage to follow God’s plan regardless of what “normal” seems to be because it was modeled for me in you.  love, hazel

dear dad,  thank you for loving me so much before i even took a breath…i know you were scared when you & mom rushed to the hospital, but just look at me know.  thank you working so so so so so hard & thank you for giving so much of yourself while mom was on bedrest so i could arrive safe & sound.  and now that I am here, thank you for loving me so well still.  thank you for always saying that you don’t get enough time with me…it lets me know how much you desire to know me & be with me.  when i get just a little older i know we will have that time.  for now, i just have to stick with mom a lot.  thank you for how you love her.  thank you for showing me what it looks like to lead a wife & family, the day in & day out seeking hard after the heart of God in humility & surrender & passion.  thank you for bouncing me for hours that night that I was sick, for singing to me, for making me laugh…it’s only the beginning & I can’t wait for so much more.  thanks for being the best dad ever.  love, anders

Wow! What a beautiful wife God has given you, she is able to express her heart to you as your kids would do so.
I think you are a blessed man even through the trials you have gone through because what is inside of both of you has come out and it is the beauty of Jesus.
What an example to so many you both are.
Keep the good work that one day your Savior will show you the beauty behind all, because we see now a little blurry but then we will see clear; then we will see how much loved we have been.
    God bless you!

This is such a sweet post, what a great way to honor Matt on Father’s day.

In the spirit of Father’s day and because you liked Swagger Wagon so much I thought you would appreciate the Father’s Day tribute they had at my church on Sunday, enjoy!
