easter

by Matt MooneyApril 4, 2010

Ginny & I were talking last night about how wonderful Easter is to us now.  I guess it always was or, at least, always should have been; however, there is no denying that the commemoration of the cross and resurrection pulses through our veins and into our heart as never before.  It is not a warm, fuzzy afterthought for us- a family who is living loss; rather, it is the principle tenant of all we claim to believe.  Jesus Christ overcame death and enables us all to ask of Death where his sting has gone.  And that, for us, is one amazing sentence.

We have some things we are excited to share as soon as we find time to type; until then, happy Easter.

    A friend of a friend emailed me your video tribute to Eliot, and then eventually I saw it on national TV shows, but I never deleted the original email. Every few months, I would return to the email to watch, and cry, again. Having struggled to have children, your story struck such a chord. Now after a successful pregnancy and a joyous adoption, we live in grateful appreciation for these 2 sweet lives. Tonight I read a posting from a friend whose 6 yr. old is battling cancer – and I thought of all the lives that are touched, and changed, and inspired by those brave enough to share their journey. Like your family, they trust, and hope, and sometimes they falter on days when it gets to be too much. My friend Cathy had one of those moments in the last few days, but read a poem from a devotional that helped her get right back up. Your family came to mind:

    He placed me in a little cage,
    Away from gardens fair;
    But I must sing the sweetest songs
    Because He placed me there.
    Not beat my wings against the cage
    If it’s my Maker’s will,
    But raise my voice to heaven’s gate
    And sing the louder still!

    Please keep singing!! God bless and Happy Easter!

    Hi Matt and Ginny!
    I just wanted to say how I agree with you guys about Easter. It is just as though you walk out of the house during Holy Week and truly feel God’s warmth all around you.
    BTW, Ginny, could you email me the site where I could go for New Addition stuff? I’m having a tough time finding it (randi@chrisandrandi.us).
    In God’s love,
    Randi
