imperfect vessels

W hen choosing which to purchase, he peruses
E ach with care, being sure to neglect the ones with crack or imperfection.

A ny blemish will
R emove the option of acceptance;
E ach shortcoming serving sufficient reason for rejection.

A nd I am watching him, trying not to catch his eye,
L est he think me a
L urker or some shade of plain weird.

B ut I am over him now;
          having moved on to thinking that we all cannot stop our
R ating system when we go beyond the store.
O ur shopping techniques have bled into our being, but
K indgdoms do exist where our metrics of worth are no more.
E veryone a work of art, none dismissed for weakness because
N o one survives if such becomes our standard.

    today’s “Jesse Tree” reading from Ann Voskamp highlighted the verse from 1 Sam 16:7 about people looking at the outside.. and the Lord looking at the heart. amen and amen. so grateful for how well this acronym/poem magnifies that.
