the gift of presence

by Matt MooneyMarch 7, 2010

MM:  I’ve had the opportunity to speak a couple of times the last few weeks.  This helps to explain the infrequency of blog posts; preparing to speak absorbs me a way that few other things do.  Last night I was able to teach on something that has become quite near & dear to Ginny & I- the gift of presence.  The willingness to enter into the pain of another.  I come as a recipient on this topic, and not an expert.  We are thankful for the folks that have taught us, along the way, what the gift of presence looks like.  I have good intentions of posting some of my thoughts on the topic at another time, but for now here’s a link to the podcast.

Thanks to those of you who volunteered your latest music love- good stuff.  As for the ongoing quest for some feedback- with Oscar’s on tonight- let us know what movies you loved this year that won’t win a statue.

I discovered “Marley and Me”and I simply fell in love with it. What seemed to be just a funny dog movie at first proved in being a beautiful, touching movie about life, family, joy and loss. I also read the book which made me laugh and cry the same amount. Very well written. Actually, when Ginny was put on bed rest, the situation threw me back to the part in the book when Jenny is put on bed rest with her second child.
I highly recommend the movie and book.

My best to you, Ginny and your loved ones.
