Well, that was a nice blog-cation. I am confident you enjoyed my silence as much and probably more than I did. There was so much to blog about: elections, holidays with family and continued kiddo chaos. On at least two of those three topics, I most likely would have peeved a good portion of you; regarding the subject of family, an honest author must be careful with those who think they love him most. People start to act differently when they realize they may very well be a character in your next post- the one you plan to make available to the world. Thus, you are witness to the maturation of Matt. I was quiet. Be thankful. Although, almost certainly, the trumpeting of my own maturity shows the distance left to travel. I’m a work in progress and I am back at the keyboard, spouting unfinished thoughts that will one day haunt me when I’ve changed.
How ‘bout we do something different on this here blog for the holidays? I am feeling wild and crazy. Here’s what I am thinking.
What if anyone that wanted- believer or not- joined with me (I hesitate to say us as no one may join)- and worked our way through a gospel? I will commit to actually read the passages as well as posting some thoughts along the way….if you will commit to reading along as well and possibly- just possibly- dropping a comment in if something strikes you along the way.
We’ll start on December 1st (though do go on ahead without me if so inclined). I will be reading approximately a chapter a day- so that I will have covered all 21 chapters by Dec. 25th. That means you have until Friday to commit, and I do want you to commit because if you’re anything like me, good intentions are like tonsils: we’ve all got ‘em and they do nothing.
So, you decide if you want to join. You decide how you’ll commit if you do want to join. You can leave a comment that says “in” or take the liberty to ramble on about whatever you like in the comment section and mention somewhere along the way that you will be reading John with me in December. How you commit is up to you- smoke signal for all I care, tell a friend, write it in a journal, click on my janky poll to the right, get a tattoo- but a commitment of some sort is requested.
Let’s recap:
- I’m reading through John in December and will be posting thoughts along the route- looking back on chapters read.
****I’ll be posting random stuff about family, life, etc. as well- so don’t be taken aback by a random post ranting on about how Santa has all the same letters as Satan (coincidence?).
- I’ll commit to at least 1 post every week solely on the text of John.
- You are invited.
- Officially starts on Friday, but we make the rules around here- so join in whenever you want or can.
- If you do plan to come along, commit in some way so that you thereby increase your chances of actual participation as well as cut in half your lousy excuses about how busy you are (it’s getting old. shutup.).
You coming along?
(If not, don’t go feeling all guilty about it. Just can the busy talk and say with all boldness, “I am not doing that this year. I could. I choose not to.”)
Come on, I’m insecure….your participation will make me feel important & reading the Bible- not so bad either.

Christina…welcome! I think you were first (had some commitments on fb & twitter).
I added the poll over to the right, so obviously I need you to commit over there.
I think clicking on this button will ensure that you will follow through for sure.
