monday's blog topic poll

There’s a new poll up to the left.  Help me pick a topic.  I’ll check it on Wednesday, and post on the topic you choose thereafter. On Tuesday I will be heading to Little Rock for my grandfather’s funeral.  It will be bittersweet. Over the holidays, I went hunting through my parent’s attic and found this.  It is now mine and I have currently placed it in my office, although I suspect it may end up in our house before too long.  If I can find ribbon, I think we’ll be in business, if not- I’ll just admire it and…

one strong man

On Thanksgiving day, Ginny & I put the kids down for a nap, leaving them with my mother as we grabbed our coats on the way out the door. My father drove us, and I asked questions as to how he had been doing. “Same ole, same ole” was all my dad could muster; this unhelpful response said more than enough. Grandaddy, as I had called him since I could speak, had thrown in the towel three and half years earlier. Presley Mooney, as he was known by the world, was 91 at the time and had been living with…

marriage::

(April 28th this year will mark our 10 year anniversary). A blog post on marriage won the poll.  I always struggle with a topic, so I have craftily delegated that responsibility to you.  I don’t pretend that you actually care, but help a brother out and vote.  It’s relatively painless. a peek into my prayers

photo credit: ♀Μøỳαл_Bгεлл♂ I would like share a prayer from some journaling I was able to do this morning.  Ginny & the rascals are on their way back from Louisiana, thus a quiet moment of reflection was possible- complete with coffee and a muffin.  I was reminded in my return to this process- one that used to be a habit but is now more of a phenomenon- that it is good to write down my heavenly petitions.  For me, doing so, seems to birth a finality of releasing a recurring concern over to the One who desires me to bring…

a honky in honky-tonk town

I recently road tripped to a former home- Nashville, TN.  Ginny & I lived in Nashville 6 long, wonderful months before moving to Fayetteville in order for me to start law school  (or I could rewrite that more honestly to say, “because I could not get a job”).  I embarked on this return trip in order to meet some folks and talk about our expanding work with 99 Balloons.  I hope to soon be posting more on our latest thoughts & direction. I left for Nash-Vegas with only a hope that the trip would be worth it, but came away…

Dearest Enemy: read between the lines

Just a few things to make you aware of: 1.)  We love being a part of the dialogue at Christmas Change. Basically, it’s a call to focus on the more important things during a season that can easily get highjacked. 2.)  Along those same lines, you can join with us at 99 Balloons as we seek to “raise the stature of special needs children locally & globally” by seeing how you can help by getting creative this year with your Christmas Cards.  Go to disCARD Christmas for more information.  In over 3 years of action, we are just now beginning…
