the slow work of change
photo credit: gfoster67 Here’s a simple list of things that I’ve been playing around with in the upstairs of my mind. Some on the list follow the stairs down to my heart as well. Although holy epiphanies get all the press, it seems that typically the Lord speaks to me in some unconnected process of thoughts strewn out over a long period of time. As if He were crafting Himself within me in the slow manner of a carpenter. At some point in the process I come to understand something deeper, to believe something anew or see through a clearer…
a year of sailing
I am intentionally swerving away from the topic of our adoption. No progress that we know of. We are prayerfully considering joining the therapy team on a trip over there in October. This would mean meeting her, as well as providing her caretakers with a plan for the days until we are able to come again. We received a new picture this week, and we pray that she is thriving in an environment where that is near impossible. I hedge my comments as I must be careful with adoption and relationships and our work there. But, man, please pray with…
a picker upper
A good laugh is always welcomed. After writing the last post, I happened upon our friend Ben’s video….and I laughed hard. Not only can the guy sing, apparently he needs a show. A well-timed laugh I thought I would pass on. Enjoy….
lots of movement. little progress.
photo credit: JulieFaith On the adoption front there is not much to report. We check in every week in order to see if the special needs list has been published. Until then, we wait. She waits. Our hearts have grown tired as the calendar flips. The addition to our house is almost completely finished. Basically, a plumber and an electrician need to show their face and do their thing. However, the excitement of this reality has faded a bit- as her room nears completion, but we seem no nearer her arrival. In fact, I have foreseen a sad swell coming…
Delving into Disability
BLEMISH IS BEAUTY is a forthcoming initiative of 99 Balloons whereby I will be asking various individuals to write on the topic of special needs, disabilities and, in particular, the plight of special needs children internationally. It is something I am really excited about and we have some great folks lined up to give us their insight as well as raise our awareness on this topic. You’ll have to come back around to hear exactly why we chose the name, but I am sure you could guess quite accurately. We are still in the works as to how and when…
cleaning. missing. waiting.
photo credit: claudeprecourt Last week the addition construction became a bit too much to keep living amidst for Ginny and the kids; they headed out and met up with her parents on an unplanned trip to Michigan- without me. I am left here to clean up and ensure that work carries on in their absence. Ginny was a champ, and I honestly have no idea how she held out as long as she did. The white powder, at some point, packed its bags and decidedly moved from the new add-on and into our living room. My family will return to…
