I have to the opportunity to speak at a conference coming up, and have enjoyed the process of preparation.  I’m truly excited to hear from some of the folks that are speaking and have a feeling I will be asking if they’re sure they want me to take the mic when it is my turn to follow up one of these guys.  But I am always honored to speak of my son and where life has lead us.

My ideas are still baking and I hope to share a bit of them on here for some feedback in days come, but it is fun to head back to Nashville- a place we called home about one year before Eliot was born.  Our 6-month stint in Nashville was an interesting time for us as we had said goodbye to Forth Worth, TX- and folks & jobs that we loved.  I could not get a job while we were there & ended up as a Gap Girl folding sweaters for 8 hours at a time.  And that’s where I think I will start this talk…folding sweaters.  Because during these seemingly meaningless, frustrating and forgotten hours, there was being forged a faith that was necessary for the days to come.  Sometimes we fold sweaters; our culture worships sexy glitz and glamour, even our churches can.  But God doesn’t need a platform.  He is there in the menial, and greater faith is required for the days where we just feel like folders.

Here’s a video telling more about the conference & free tickets for the first 10 to follow the link.  Just a heads up, the conference is for younger types, and although I think this is blatant discrimination, I wouldn’t want anyone rolling in and feeling out of place.  On second thought, come on no matter your age, you’ll help me feel less out of touch.
