Ginny & I are busy dusting off the luggage & packing our clothes for our first vacation since Genesis…or at least since the birth of our second child.  We head out early tomorrow morning for New York City.  There is no agenda, that is the beauty.  Four days together sans ankle-biters is no small feat and only an option thanks to our two wonderful sets of parents who are tag teaming the rascals while we galavant through city streets.  Truth be told, before we touch down on the first leg of the flight, we’ll have opined incessantly on the state of affairs of our two favorite persons.  They’ll do great, it’s us I am not sure of.  Other than a flea market in Hell’s Kitchen & a holiday concert by Ingrid Michaelson, we’re wide open & would love any & all recommendations.  If you’ve been around a while, you may be aware that Ginny loves her some NYC- we both do- but her to a possibly unhealthy extent.  So, here we go.  I figure it will take us at least a day to remember what it is like to sit & be able to have a conversation, but I am looking forward to trying.  We’ll try to post some pictures via the swirling Polaroid thingy to the right.

Also, there’ll be a Christmas post on here Thursday in conjunction with Christmas Change, so come back then donning your best Christmas sweater.  Speaking of Christmas, remember there’s a simple way to help out 99 Balloons this year by getting creative with your Christmas cards at DIScard Christmas.

…I wanna be a part of it…

Hummus Place (multiple locations) above all other restaurants for an inexpensive meal…the best lunch you’ll have all weekend. The High Line (West Side, near Chelsea Market) for a different view of the city. Clinton St. Baking Company (LES) for breakfast. Lombardi’s (Little Italy/Soho) for pizza. FPB (Francois Payard Bakery) for croissants. Trader Joe’s if you’ve never been. The new Eataly (Flatiron District) for a gourmand experience. Ipudo for ramen noodles (East Village). Have fun!

chelsea market is my first suggestion. my second is brunch at Essex Restaurant in the lower east side. they do a set price for appetizer/food/drink….it’s around $18 dollars or so…and SO good. We go every time we are there for brunch….can’t beat the deal or the food. Oh, and i’m not a huge jazz fan, but we went to some place called “The garage” in greenwich village….they do lots of live jazz….i liked it.
I went to hell’s kitchen flea market in may…lots of junk to dig through. maybe ya’ll will find some treasures! 🙂
sounds so fun, tell Ginny I am a huge NYC fan myself…it’s my favorite city. if I think of any more suggestions…i’ll send ’em your way. Amy

sounds like a great time. check out eataly (http://www.mariobatali.com/restaurants_eataly.cfm) near madison square park. brunch at stanton social (http://www.thestantonsocial.com/) in lower east side. if you’re in that area, this is a great museum: http://www.nyharborparks.org/visit/temu.html. or head to the west village, have brunch at good (get the orange doughnuts) and then go to three lives books, best bookstore. have so much fun!
