a prodigal faith

photo credit: gogoloopie We made the decision last night that we will head to Michigan tomorrow for the week of the 4th.  Remember that we thought we would be in Ukraine right now, so we really had not prepared a back-up plan to be out of our house- which we needed to be since the wall that separates what was the garage (and is now the addition) is coming down this week.  Therefore, our house will be loud, dirty and hot.   So, we’re joining Ginny’s family in Petoskey.  A pretty good trade if you ask me. We’re still awaiting a…

hurry up & wait

photo credit: 85mm.ch By way of update…we received word this morning that our dossier was submitted, and this is good news.  We did not, however, receive a quick travel date for an appointment- which we had been told to prepare for and were hoping for. There is still some confusion, but the way we understand it today is that our adoption is in process through the SDA & will be finished through such- even though this agency will cease new adoptions starting in July.  We have been told to expect to travel in around 30 days (or before)…so this is what we are hoping for. Thank you…

awaiting Thursday

photo credit: Artsy Aubs Thanks to all of you who have encouraged us, said a prayer, let us borrow your stroller, your luggage or are helping us hatch a plan for the rascals if -and hopefully when- we head eastward and return with our daughter.  It has been a whirlwind as we have spent the week planning for a trip- with no departure dates and no actual certainty that it will occur.  But if we get word of an appointment, we’ll be leaving like then, so we’ve been scheming.  Here’s the scoop as we know it; although, swallow it only…

We have received such encouragement from this blog and many of you in the past. Thanks in advance to those of you who will actually take the time and bow your head. We are extremely grateful. ——————————————– Friends & Family, We wanted to take just a second and please ask that you join us in prayer. As you know, we are in process of adopting a 4.5…

labor of love

Just recently my two-something daughter began asking if she could go with me to work as I would head out the door in the morning.  I am not going to even feign like this didn’t make my millennium.  All I want is for three people to like me.  She is one of them.  Since the first day she broached the subject, I have been mentally crafting the scene: one day I would work it all out in advance but make it appear all spur-of-the-moment and nonchalant as I said, “yes, you can go with me- come on”. And today I…

letters from a prison (almost)

photo credit: hopscotch_mom Our home addition is taking shape fast. We’ll post some pics soon. It has been fun (and loud) to have a tangible reminder that though it is all the same, it is all changing. This short week has been long on adoption work. I handed 5 months worth of arduous paperwork to the fedex woman on Thursday and asked her how it felt to hold a life in her hands. I didn’t smile when I said it. She seemed to carry on with the task at hand as if it were just another package; it most definitely…
